Art & Grace Laemmlen in Germany, 1956

In 1956 my parents, Art & Grace Laemmlen took a trip to visit our family members in Germany.  They’d just spent 2 years at Brook Lane Farms near Hagerstown, Maryland, where Dad was the administrator of a hospital.  As a Mennonite, he was a  conscientious objector and did his required voluntary service there.

Before returning to farm life in Reedley, Dad and Mom spent a few months traveling through Europe.  They bought a little Volkswagen and had a great time.  Here are a few photos from their visit to our relatives in Grossgartach, Germany.I love looking at these photos and my parents when they were young and had their entire future before them.  And I love our German family.
