Today’s sorting and thinning uncovered a box from my Jr. High years. These are a few things I made. The plaid bag held my New Testament while I was in Primary. The maroon slippers were a knitting project when I was in Primary. The print fabric was left from a little bag I sewed to take to SciCon in 6th grade. And the 2 woven pieces were made on a small loom I got one year for Christmas.
All of these fabrics were left from clothing I sewed when I was in Jr. High. Jumpers, dresses, shirts and cheerleading outfits.
The bright floral print was made into an Easter dress I wore when I was about 12 or 13. The yellow print was the dress I made for my graduation from Jr. High. The 3 other pieces were fabrics I sewed into prom dresses in high school.
I thought this Easter fabric was the most beautiful I’d ever seen!
These fabrics were used to make a cheerleading outfit when I was at General Grant Jr. High. These were our school colors.
This plaid was made into one of my very favorite jumpers. I wore a white turtleneck under it.
The blue and green print was sewn into a long dress with long sleeves. The others were tops and shirts and a striped tank top.
The red Christmas plaid was sewn into a bridesmaid dress worn at Becky Benfell’s Christmas wedding after we were freshmen at BYU.
This fabric brings back so many memories. I loved to sew. I loved my Home Ec. classes. I loved my sewing teachers (my Mom hated to sew). I kept a few small pieces of these fabrics to sew into my chopped snakes quilts, but the rest was donated to others who work with fabrics. These they’d call “vintage.”
