John Smuin and Jane Honey

John Smuin and Jane Honey

These are my 2nd Great Grandparents.  They were born in Radley, Berkshire, England in 1820 and 1822.  I think they are adorable.  They came to America in 1870 and settled in Ogden, Utah, where he became a prosperous merchant.  He later had a mercantile business in Rexburg, Idaho, where he sold groceries, crockery and enameled ware.

From time to time I’m going to post photos and a bit of information about my family members so that if any of you might be related, we can connect.  My mother was Grace Helen Smuin.  If you know any SMUIN family members, please let me know.  I’ve been gathering Smuin descendants all week.

Below is a photo I took of St. James the Great Church in Radley, England where they were each christened and then later married.

    Hi Ann,

  2. John Smuin and Jane Pursey Honey are my second great grandparents as well. My lines goes through John Smuin Jr. he married Harriet Matilda Barker. Their daughter Mabel Smuin is my grandmother. She married Gilbert Francis and my dad’s name is Grant Francis. I don’t know too much about Grandma’s family on the Smuin or Barker side. I’ve come across some errors in my family genealogy records and want to see if I can straighten them up a bit. I’m hoping I can learn a few things here. Like who Jane Purcey Honey’s parents are…. I have seen two possibilities and am trying to find which one is the correct one. I’m glad I found your site. I’m happy to see a picture of them. It’s awesome. I hope you don’t mind but I copied it to my hard drive..Hugs, Sherilynn
