One of the treasures I found this week in the library collections was a history of the descendants of Isaac Russell compiled by one of his great great grandchildren. Included in this book was an article by Annie Wells Cannon entitled “The Russell Sisters,” which was published in The Relief Society Magazine in 1928. Both Sarah Eliza and Isabella were poets and writers. They were two of the daughters of Isaac and Mary Russell. I especially enjoyed the poem below by Sarah Eliza called “Patchwork.” She captured the essence of quilting beautifully!
