Today’s Writing Tip:

Neglect Housework to Write

A friend shared a book with me yesterday.  It’s called If You Want To Write, by Brenda Ueland, published in 1938.  Instead of working on some pressing projects, I took a break today because she advises us to slow down, take long walks, and have empty spaces where thoughts and inspiration can flow freely.

The weather this afternoon was cool and perfect and Fallish, so I sat out on the front porch for an hour or so.  The sun felt warm on my skin.  I enjoyed looking at the sunflowers in the playground and hearing the sounds of the neighborhood.  I read a bit.  I felt content and filled.

I smiled when I came to this chapter!  I’m there, I thought.
