Adam’s Mission Tie Quilt made by Melinda King and Penny Stephenson

Santiago Chile Tie Quilt 8

Here’s a really fun Mission Quilt  made by the wife of Adam’s Mission President, Melinda King.  My dear quilting friend, Penny Stephenson helped her put it all together.  It was a fun process to watch.  Melinda gathered ties from each missionary at their departure and brought home boxes of them.  Just 6″ of the back end were used to make this spectacular masterpiece, representing each of the missionaries who served during the 3 years they were in the Chile Santiago West Mission.

Don’t be getting any ideas.  I don’t think I’ll be doing one of these.  Even if they offered to help me do it.  I don’t think I could bring myself to sacrifice a perfectly good tie to use the tail end of it.  But I love looking at this.  Under each tie is the name of the Missionary and they are in chronological order.  The Sister Missionaries are represented by the square-ended floral fabrics.  You will see Adam’s tie below with his name embroidered under it.

I just want to put this out there for the idea of it!
