Here are some pictures of our fun evening with these new friends. I think there is only one other family here that descends from Jacob Bushman, my branch. Most of these cousins descend from John Bushman and many of them are first and second cousins. At best, I am a 3rd or 4th cousin to almost all of these good people.
We had a really interesting program this evening. Claudia Bushman spoke first on Elizabeth Degen Bushman and her life in Nauvoo. Then we learned about contemporary Nauvoo from current Mayor Jason Skog. He told us the population of Nauvoo right now is just over 900 people. About 45% are LDS, about 40% are Catholic. They economy here relies on tourists and families coming to the pageants.
Our final speakers were members of our research committee who shared some discoveries they’ve been finding in land records.
