This weekend we took a road trip to Reedley with my brother, Paul and his wife Leslie, driving all day Thursday.   Our first stop in town was for Mexican food, then our favorite childhood haunt, Foster’s Freeze.

Kings River is higher than I’ve ever seen it.  Reedley Beach is completely under water.  This is where we’d “float the river” on hot summer days after work.

I picked a bouquet of my favorite weed flowers.  These grew around our old house and smelled so good.  We’d inhale the petals to our noses and suck on the sour stems.

Friday evening we had dinner at Sal’s Mexican restaurant in Selma with my uncles who came to town.
