“If only you were interested.”

Artwork by  Rebeca Dewey

“So many people are shut up tight inside themselves like boxes, yet they would open up, unfolding quite wonderfully, if only you were interested in them.”

~ Sylvia Plath (1932-1963)

It is not always in my nature to try to unfold people, but I am working to be better at it.  Everyone’s story deserves to be heard.  The tragic thing, for me, is to hear a story and know it has not been written or preserved for future generations who might want to know why and how we do what we do and why and how we believe what we believe.  I wish I could write all the stories I hear to keep them safe for a long long time.
