For Mother’s Day (while we were in St. Louis) John and Adam presented me with a Apple Watch then Adam fixed the settings so he could stalk me and my exercising. He told me I had to walk at least a mile a day and then, once I was home, he watched to make sure I was moving. I started walking 2 miles each day. And then, starting June 2nd, I decided to get back in the water. I am swimming a mile a day now. It’s been years since I swam like this (30+ to be exact–I swam 3 miles the day before Adam was born, and I don’t think I’ve be in a pool to work out since–that was 1991). The first day was a little rough. My body felt like jello in the water, but after 3 days, I worked up to a mile and have done that ever since. I’m grateful for muscle memory.
This watch is amazing. It tracks how many lengths I swim (in our pool a mile is 88 lengths), it tracks how many stokes I take, which strokes I’m swimming and how fast I’m going. It also tracks my heartrate and anything else I want to know. It makes me so happy.
The top photo was my first day. Below is a couple months later. I’m so happy to be back in the water. This is one time I am LOVING technology!! And I’m grateful to be gaining some strength back after 10 years of missionary living.
