I love Thanksgiving. I love that Jeffrey and Kathleen host us all each year. They have the perfect place to hold as many of the Lewis family as can come. Jeffrey brines the turkeys ahead of time and by the time we arrive, the house smells heavenly.
This year, our family’s menu looked like this:
Jeffrey & Kathleen: turkeys, stuffing, gravy
Diana: dinner rolls & pies
Katie and Qiana: corn soufflé
John: yams
Ann: cranberry relish
Dave & Celeste: green salad
Aaron: raspberry pretzel jello
Abbey: veggies (brussel sprouts)
Barb & Lowell: mashed potatoes
Vicki Owens Work: green bean casserole
Pies:
Chrissy: 2 pumpkin, 2 banana cream
Celeste: coconut cream
Vicki: 2 Apple in a bag
Di: pecan, 2 chocolate candy bar, sour cream raspberry, GF pecan squares
Dave: banana toffee
Every Thanksgiving morning, Kathleen goes “foraging” in the yard for the table décor. She is a master at creating the most amazing centerpieces.
This year’s group was quite a bit smaller than usual, with many out of town. I think we had 22 people here. It was enough to cover all the bases and have plenty of delicious food.
Some years, our pie count has been as high as 30-35. It was way more reasonable this year!
There is such a good feeling in this family when we get together. It really is something to be thankful for.
