Memorial Day 2026

This year was an especially fun Memorial Day, visiting Mom in the Orem Cemetery because we will soon be Neighbors!  Our new home is right across the street from the cemetery, which was a big selling point for me.  I LOVE cemeteries!  I love walking in them and I love feeling the connections there between heaven and earth.   We visited Mom Sunday evening.

After visiting Mom, we walked across the street to see how our new home is coming along.

The narrow size of our back yard makes us a little nervous, but we’ll get used to it.

Our family traditionally hosts the Memorial Monday BBQ.  Everyone brings good food and we grill Brats and burgers.  Today I vacuumed the pool, getting ready for more festivities at home this afternoon.  At 1:00 family members started coming over.

Below are some family pics.

John had a really good idea this year. After we’d eaten, and the kids were dispersed, he had each sibling or spouse say 1-2 min, describing a parent or parents to the rest of us. That was really nice. We NILS (we are the Nothing-In-Laws) got to say something about our parents who have passed. The sibs talked about John & Peggy. I wish I could’ve recorded the comments. Funny and dear. That was my favorite part of the day.

At the end of the day, some of the strapping young men helped John move some beds and furniture over to the Farm House.  Bit by bit. . . .
