A Heart Quilt for Penny in Yakima

These last 3 days, I’ve made a quilt for my dear friend, Penny K. in Yakima.   She loves pink and asked for a quilt to help comfort her in as she battles several terminal illnesses.

I went to work pulling some favorite Civil War reproduction fabrics and I adapted a heart quilt I made many years ago to make something special for her so she will feel my love.

I turned the edges of the hearts with my spray starch method, using a cardboard template. The hearts were appliqued with a simple top-stitch, fast and easy.

I love the way it all came together.

My friend, Penny Stephenson, did the machine quilting for me.  Two Pennys I love came together for this project.

She did a beautiful job!

Today it went in the mail, special delivery, with loads of love.
