Theodore and Frances Turley’s daughter, Charlotte was born in Nauvoo in 1840. She grew up on this homesite with her family. In 1857, in San Bernardino, CA, Charlotte would marry Jacob Bushman, They are my 2nd Great-grandparents.
This is my first time visiting this homeplace of my other 3rd Great-grandparents, the Turleys. Today I walked where they walked and imagined their home here, in this now-peaceful place. Their lot is right behind the Manion House where Joseph and Emma Smith lived. In a letter to Hosea Stout in 1855, Theodore wrote, ” I myselfe have lost the Best friend I ever had upon the Earth in Joseph Smith.”
