This bright Sunday morning we met at the Zion’s Mercantile Store on Bluff and Muholland Streets to dedicate a memorial to our Bushman Ancestors who lived here in Nauvoo. Brian and Christy Christiansen own the Mercantile and have given us permission to place our memorial on this property where many will see it.
We had a lovely service, with remarks by Richard Bushman and the dedicatory prayer by John Carmack. We hope many family members will visit this memorial garden area in the future and remember and honor Martin and Elizabeth and their family.
After the service we bussed down the street to the temple where we had a group photo taken on the temple steps. Then we all attended the Nauvoo Ward meeting at the Stake Center.
After a wonderful church meeting, we returned to the memorial site to pick up our box lunches (sandwiches, chips, fruit and a cookie).
Our next outing took us by bus to the Nauvoo stone quarry, and then to Carthage.
